Task 1a/b: (Re-)Read the speech and highlight aspects of the town that Philip Turner criticises. Compare your findings with your results from the listening exercise (i.e., complete your list in writing).
Task 2: Based on the 'Lego Land' example, revise the meaning of denotation and connotation. Find a suitable example of your own to illustrate denotation and connotation of a word or phrase.
Task 3: Rhetorical devices in P.T.'s talk
A step further 1: Name the implications of P.T.'s statement
